Simulation and experiments on a solid sorption combined cooling and power system driven by the exhaust

摘要: A solid sorption combined cooling and power system driven by exhaust waste heat is proposed, which consists of a MnCl sorption bed, a CaCl sorption bed, an evaporator, a condenser, an expansion valve, and a scroll expander, and ammonia is chosen as the working fluid. First, the theoretical model of the system is established, and the partitioning calculation method is proposed for sorption beds. Next, the experimental system is established, and experimental results show that the refrigerating capacity at the refrigerating temperature of –10°C and the resorption time of 30 min is 1.95 kW, and the shaft power is 109.2 W. The system can provide approximately 60% of the power for the evaporator fan and the condenser fan. Finally, the performance of the system is compared with that of the solid sorption refrigeration system. The refrigerating capacity of two systems is almost the same at the same operational condition. Therefore, the power generation process does not influence the refrigeration process. The exergy efficiency of the two systems is 0.076 and 0.047, respectively. The feasibility of the system is determined, which proves that this system is especially suitable for the exhaust waste heat recovery.

Effects of combined procedure and devascularization alone on hyperdynamics of the portal venous system

摘要: Shunts and devascularizations have totally different effects on the hemodynamics of the portal venous system. The actual results of pericardial devascularization (PCDV) alone and conventional splenorenal shunt combined with pericardial devascularization (combined procedure, CP) should be determined by more clinical observations. This study aimed to evaluate effects on hemodynamics in the portal venous system after CP and PCDV only. In 20 patients who received CP and 18 who received PCDV, hemodynamic parameters of the portal venous system were studied by magnetic resonance angiography 1 week before and 2 weeks after operation. Free portal pressure (FPP) was continuously detected by a transducer during the operations. Compared to the preoperative data, a decreased flow in the portal vein (PVF) [(563.12 ± 206.42) mL/min (1080.63 ± 352.85) mL/min, < 0.05], a decreased portal vein diameter (PVD) [(1.20 ± 0.11) cm (1.30 ± 0.16) cm, < 0.01], a decreased FPP [(21.50 ± 2.67) mmHg (29.88 ± 2.30) mmHg, < 0.01] and an increased flow in the superior mesenteric vein (SMVF) [(1105.45 ± 309.03) mL/min (569.13 ± 178.46) mL/min, < 0.05] were found in the CP group after operation; a decreased PVD [(1.27 ± 0.16) cm (1.40 ± 0.23) cm, < 0.05], a decreased PVF [(684.60 ± 165.73) mL/min (1175.64 ± 415.09) mL/min, < 0.05], a decreased FPP [(24.40 ± 3.78) mmHg (28.80 ± 3.56) mmHg, < 0.05] and an increased SMVF [(697.91 ± 121.83) mL/min (521.30 ± 115.82) mL/min, < 0.05] were observed in the PCDV group. After operation, PVF in the CP group [(563.12 ± 206.42) mL/min (684.60 ± 165.73) mL/min, > 0.05] had no significant decrease, while FPP [(21.50 ± 2.67) mmHg (24.40 ± 3.78) mmHg, < 0.01] had a significant decrease as compared with that in the PCDV group. PVF and FPP could be decreased by both surgical procedures, but the effect of decreasing FPP was much better in the combined procedure than in PCDV alone. Further, there was no significant difference in PVF between the two groups. It is suggested that the combined surgical procedure could integrate the advantages of shunting with those of devascularization, as well as maintaining the normal anatomic structure of hepatic portal system, thus it should be one of the best choices for patients with portal hypertension when surgical interventions are considered.

Optimisation for interconnected energy hub system with combined ground source heat pump and borehole

摘要: Ground source heat pumps (GSHP) give zero-carbon emission heating at a residential level. However, as the heat is discharged, the temperature of the ground drops, leading to a poorer efficiency. Borehole inter-seasonal thermal storage coupled with GSHP maintains the efficiency at a high level. To adequately utilize the high performance of combined GSHP and the borehole system to further increase system efficiency and reduce cost, such a combined heating system is incorporated into the interconnected multi-carrier system to support the heat load of a community. The borehole finite element (FE) model and an equivalent borehole transfer function are proposed and respectively applied to the optimisation to analyze the variation of GSHP performance over the entire optimisation time horizon of 24 h. The results validate the borehole transfer function, and the optimisation computation time is reduced by 17 times compared with the optimisation using the FE model.

Optimization and performance prediction of a new near-zero emission coal utilization system with combined

摘要: In accordance with the new near-zero emission coal utilization system with combined gasification and combustion, which is based on the CO acceptor gasification process, the product gas composition of the gasifier and the combustor was calculated by means of thermodynamic equilibrium calculation software FactSage 5.2. Based on these calculations, the whole system efficiency calculation method that complies with the mass and energy conservation principle was established. To enhance the system efficiency, the system pressure and the gasifier carbon conversion ratio were optimized. The results indicate that the system efficiency increases with increasing pressure and gasifier carbon conversion ratio. After taking into consideration the influence of the pressure and carbon conversion ratio on the performance of the system, the gasifier and the combustor were synthetically studied. The optimum system pressure and carbon conversion ratio were obtained as 2.5 MPa and 0.7, respectively. The system efficiency could reach around 62.1% when operated in these two optimum parameters. If the advanced ion transport membrane (ITM) air separation technology is used, there would be an increase of another 1.3%.

Biomedical sensor technologies on the platform of mobile phones

摘要:

Biomedical sensors have been widely used in various areas of biomedical practices, which play an important role in disease detection, diagnosis, monitoring, treatment, health management, and so on. However, most of them and their related platforms are generally not easily accessible or just too expensive or complicated to be kept at home. As an alternative, new technologies enabled from the mobile phones are gradually changing such situations. As can be freely available to almost everyone, mobile phone offers a unique way to improve the conventional medical care through combining with various biomedical sensors. Moreover, the established systems will be both convenient and low cost. In this paper, we present an overview on the state-of-art biomedical sensors, giving a brief introduction of the fundamental principles and showing several new examples or concepts in the area. The focus was particularly put on interpreting the technical strategies to innovate the biomedical sensor technologies based on the platform of mobile phones. Some challenging issues, including feasibility, usability, security, and effectiveness, were discussed. With the help of electrical and mechanical technologies, it is expected that a full combination between the biomedical sensors and mobile phones will bring a bright future for the coming pervasive medical care.

Combined heat and power plant integrated with mobilized thermal energy storage (M-TES) system

摘要: Energy consumption for space and tap water heating in residential and service sectors accounts for one third of the total energy utilization in Sweden. District heating (DH) is used to supply heat to areas with high energy demand. However, there are still detached houses and sparse areas that are not connected to a DH network. In such areas, electrical heating or oil/pellet boilers are used to meet the heat demand. Extending the existing DH network to those spare areas is not economically feasible because of the small heat demand and the large investment required for the expansion. The mobilized thermal energy storage (M-TES) system is an alternative source of heat for detached buildings or sparse areas using industrial heat. In this paper, the integration of a combined heat and power (CHP) plant and an M-TES system is analyzed. Furthermore, the impacts of four options of the integrated system are discussed, including the power and heat output in the CHP plant. The performance of the M-TES system is likewise discussed.

Active-reactive power scheduling of integrated electricity-gas network with multi-microgrids

摘要: Advances in natural gas-fired technologies have deepened the coupling between electricity and gas networks, promoting the development of the integrated electricity-gas network (IEGN) and strengthening the interaction between the active-reactive power flow in the power distribution network (PDN) and the natural gas flow in the gas distribution network (GDN). This paper proposes a day-ahead active-reactive power scheduling model for the IEGN with multi-microgrids (MMGs) to minimize the total operating cost. Through the tight coupling relationship between the subsystems of the IEGN, the potentialities of the IEGN with MMGs toward multi-energy cooperative interaction is optimized. Important component models are elaborated in the PDN, GDN, and coupled MMGs. Besides, motivated by the non-negligible impact of the reactive power, optimal inverter dispatch (OID) is considered to optimize the active and reactive power capabilities of the inverters of distributed generators. Further, a second-order cone (SOC) relaxation technology is utilized to transform the proposed active-reactive power scheduling model into a convex optimization problem that the commercial solver can directly solve. A test system consisting of an IEEE-33 test system and a 7-node natural gas network is adopted to verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheduling method. The results show that the proposed scheduling method can effectively reduce the power losses of the PDN in the IEGN by 9.86%, increase the flexibility of the joint operation of the subsystems of the IEGN, reduce the total operation costs by $32.20, and effectively enhance the operation economy of the IEGN.

大秦线开行20 kt级重载组合列车系统集成与创新

摘要:

大秦线是我国第一条双线重载电气化运煤专线,西起北同蒲线,东至秦皇岛,全长653 km,设计运量为1×108 t/a,于1992年12月通车。为满足国民经济发展的要求,须尽快大幅度提高大秦线的运输能力。铁道部依靠自主创新,首次实现了GSM-R技术与Locotrol技术的结合,800 MHz数据电台与Locotrol技术的结合,单套Locotrol系统与SS4机车的结合,以及2台和谐型大功率机车加可控列尾的创新方式,开发了重载配套装备,通过集成创新,使大秦线开行20 kt级重载组合列车获得成功,年运量由2002年的1×108 t提高到2007年的3×108 t,是原设计能力的3倍。

分布式能量系统浅析

摘要:

现代分布式能量系统的出现是能源领域涉及可持续发展战略的一件大事。讨论了有关这一系统的一些基本概念,把它定义为“位于或临近用户中心、不以大规模、远距离输送电力为目的并具有环境相容性的电力总能系统”。分布式能量系统为热电联产和多联产的有效实施提供了最有利的系统形式,以分布式能量系统的方式耗用天然气可提高其经济性和与环境的相容性。认为,从长远的观点应把洁净煤也视为分布式能量系统的重要一次能源。微型透平是近年能源技术的一大成就,但在小型原动机领域中,内燃机仍具有旺盛的生命力。选择在发展大型集中式能量系统过程的同时不失时机、因地制宜地发展分布式能量系统,把它放在与之并行不悖且相辅相成的地位,以促进我国能源事业的可持续化发展。

摘要: This paper investigates a hybrid structural control system using tuned liquid dampers (TLDs) and lead-rubber bearing (LRB) systems for mitigating earthquake-induced vibrations. Furthermore, a new approach for taking into account the uncertainties associated with the steel shear buildings is proposed. In the proposed approach, the probabilistic distributions of the stiffness and yield properties of stories of a set of reference steel moment frame structures are derived through Monte-Carlo sampling. The approach is applied to steel shear buildings isolated with LRB systems. The base isolation systems are designed for different target base displacements by minimizing a relative performance index using Genetic Algorithm. Thereafter, the base-isolated structures are equipped with TLDs and a combination of the base and TLD properties is sought by which the maximum reduction occurs in the base displacement without compromising the performance of the system. In addition, the effects of TLD properties on the performance of the system are studied through a parametric study. Based on the analyses results, the base displacement can be reduced 23% by average, however, the maximum reduction can go beyond 30%.

Development of combined transitional pavement structure for urban tram track-road grade crossings

摘要: The grade crossings and adjacent pavements of urban trams are generally subjected to complex load conditions and are susceptible to damage. Therefore, in this study, a novel pavement structure between tram tracks and roads constructed using polyurethane (PU) elastic concrete and ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC), referred to as a track-road transitional pavement (TRTP), is proposed. Subsequently, its performance and feasibility are evaluated using experimental and numerical methods. First, the mechanical properties of the PU elastic concrete are evaluated. The performance of the proposed structure is investigated using a three-dimensional finite element model, where vehicle-induced dynamic and static loads are considered. The results show that PU elastic concrete and the proposed combined TRTP are applicable and functioned as intended. Additionally, the PU elastic concrete achieved sufficient performance. The recommended width of the TRTP is approximately 50 mm. Meanwhile, the application of UHPC under a PU elastic concrete layer significantly reduces vertical deformation. Results of numerical calculations confirmed the high structural performance and feasibility of the proposed TRTP. Finally, material performance standards are recommended to provide guidance for pavement design and the construction of tram-grade crossings in the future.

emissions: a comparative study of the feasibility of the hybrid renewable energy systems incorporating combined

摘要: Fuel poverty is most prevalent in North East England with 14.4% of fuel poor households in Newcastle upon Tyne. The aim of this paper was to identify a grid connected renewable energy system coupled with natural gas reciprocating combined heat and power unit, that is cost-effective and technically feasible with a potential to generate a profit from selling energy excess to the grid to help alleviate fuel poverty. The system was also aimed at low carbon emissions. Fourteen models were designed and optimized with the aid of the HOMER Pro software. Models were compared with respect to their economic, technical, and environmental performance. A solution was proposed where restrictions were placed on the size of renewable energy components. This configuration consists of 150 kW CHP, 300 kW PV cells, and 30 kW wind turbines. The renewable fraction is 5.10% and the system yields a carbon saving of 7.9% in comparison with conventional systems. The initial capital investment is $1.24 million which enables the system to have grid sales of 582689 kWh/a. A conservative calculation determined that 40% of the sales can be used to reduce the energy cost of fuel poor households by $706 per annum. This solution has the potential to eliminate fuel poverty at the site analyzed.
